Frequently Asked Questions

How do I take an accurate measurement?
Point the camera toward the area you want to measure, avoid covering the lens with your hand or body, and keep the phone steady until the reading becomes stable. For ambient light, face the sensor toward the illuminated surface or the light reaching that area.
Why does the app need camera access?
Lux Light Meter: Illuminance estimates illuminance using the camera sensor. Measurement will not work without camera permission. If you previously denied it, open iOS Settings → Lux Light Meter: Illuminance → enable Camera.
How accurate are the readings?
Phone-based readings are estimates for everyday reference. Results can vary by device model, lens, covering, color temperature, and lighting conditions. They cannot replace a calibrated professional illuminance meter or certified inspection. You can improve consistency via optional calibration in Settings.
What are Environment, Photography, and Plant modes?
Environment mode shows lux / fc with scene targets and suitability tips. Photography mode (Pro) suggests exposure parameters such as ISO, aperture, and shutter. Plant mode (Pro) estimates PPFD and DLI for common houseplants.
Does the app work offline?
Yes. Core measurement, saving records, and viewing history work offline. An internet connection is only needed for App Store subscriptions and purchase restoration.
What's included in Pro?
Pro unlocks photography metering, plant lighting analysis, continuous measurement trends, unlimited history, and independent calibration for front and rear cameras. You can try core environment measurement without purchasing first.
How do I restore my purchases?
Open the subscription / membership page in the app and tap "Restore Purchases". This restores purchases associated with your Apple ID.
How do I cancel my subscription?
Subscriptions are managed through your Apple ID. Go to Settings → [Your Name] → Subscriptions, find Lux Light Meter: Illuminance, then tap "Cancel Subscription".
